Manziel tops the likes of Wilson, Manning and Kaepernick since April 1.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel continues to see the hype surrounding him increase as his jersey has been a top-seller since April 1.
In figures released by NFLShop.com, Manziel has topped the likes of Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning and Colin Kaepernick as his jersey has been in high-demand since being drafted by the Browns on Thursday.
The league wouldn’t release the number of jerseys which have been sold, but it did say that the official website sold nearly as many jerseys for the rookie quarterback across draft weekend as it sold Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck and Tim Tebow jerseys during their draft weekends combined.
Cameras showed queues outside of the FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Friday morning while NBA star LeBron James had a Manziel jersey on during a flight to New York on Friday with the pair connected through the Miami Heat star’s business partner, Maverick Carter.
Further, Manziel has an endorsement deal with Nike and while they are also the league’s official uniform supplier, it has given them the room to sell various styles and sizes of the official jersey as well as other merchandise bearing the Manziel name.
The second-most popular jersey amongst the rookies has been that of Michael Sam, who became the first openly gay player ever to be drafted on Saturday as he was picked in the seventh round by the St. Louis Rams.
Rounding off the top five were Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and Jacksonville’s Blake Bortles
