‘The Bison’ is a huge favourite with the Blues faithful.
New Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho wants to include returning loanee Michael Essien as part of his first-team plans at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming campaign, according to reports in the Guardian.
The powerful Ghana international has just spent the last campaign playing under the self-styled ‘Special One’ at Real Madrid on a season-long loan, having been deemed surplus to requirements by the previous Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo.
However, with the 30-year-old’s time in the Spanish capital having now come to a conclusion following los Blancos’ final Liga contest of the season, at home against Osasuna last Saturday, the player is now free to return to west London with his mentor.
And it is understood that ‘Mou’ intends to make full use of the versatile Essien in his second spell in charge of the Blues after the central midfield player cum right back excelled under the Portuguese in Madrid.
In total, Essien featured in 20 matches for the Spanish giants, scoring two goals in the process.
