Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is eager for the Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger to extend his contract.
The 25 year-old says that Wenger was instrumental in convincing him to move to Emirates Stadium, thanks to his clear vision of how to improve him as a player and polyglut ability to converse in a number of different languages with various nationalities throughout the squad.
Wenger’s deal expires at the end of the season, but hinted yesterday in his press conference that an announcement on an extension will be made soon.
“Of course I want him to stay,” said Ozil to the Daily Mirror.
“He’s the one who convinced me to come here, he’s a world-class manager and he can really push the team to its top level and players can develop under him.
“It’s not just for me but the club in general and the fans it’s important that he will extend his contract and he will be the manager here for a long time to come.”
Ozil has four goals and seven assists in 16 Premier League appearances this season.
