Memphis Depay scored his maiden Premier League goal in first-half stoppage time to put Manchester United on course for victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
His Netherlands international teammate Daley Blind started the move with a delightful cross-field pass which Juan Mata cushioned across the face of goal for Depay to convert.
Although the £25m signing, as The Telegraph reports, was opening his account in the English top flight, he had already netted three times for the Red Devils in the Champions League this term.
Depay’s strike ended the resistance of the Premier League’s bottom team, and United moved two goals up minutes after the interval as Anthony Martial teed up Wayne Rooney at close range.
Louis van Gaal’s side are now well on course to climb to the top of the table following Manchester City’s 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane earlier this afternoon.
