Red Devils tipped to approach Spanish giants for ex-defensive unit.
Manchester United are being linked with making a shock return for former centre-back Gerard Pique in the new year, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Spanish international left United back in 2008 to link up with the Catalonian giants, and following six-years with the club that has him collect every trophy under the sun he has suddenly found himself excluded from Luis Enrique’s plans.
The new Barca boss has so far preferred Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu rather than the 27-year-old, who has exerienced a dip in form during the last 12 months.
Pique was recently accused on focussing on his life outside of football and not justifying the huge £110,000 per week.
That could be enough for United to sound the club out about a possible move, though Barca may be reluctant to sell having been placed under a transfer embargo until January 2016.
