Reds Devils unwilling to pay ‘over the odds’ for teenage defender.
Manchester United have not improved their £25m offer for Southampton starlet Luke Shaw, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 18-year-old left-back, who made his third senior appearance for England in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Costa Rica, is believed to be one of United’s top summer transfer targets.
Southampton rejected a £25m bid from the Red Devils earlier this year and it had been reported that the Old Trafford club were prepared to up their offer to £34m.
However, the M.E.N dispute this and say that United are unwilling to pay ‘over the odds’ for Shaw, who started 35 Premier League matches last season.
United appear to be in need of a new left-sided full-back. Experienced Frenchman Patrice Evra, who recently penned a new 12-month contract, is their current first-choice in the position.
However, there is very little competition for Evra, 33, following Alex Buttner’s decision to join Dynamo Moscow.
