Man United target Nicolas Otamendi looks to be pushing for a move away from Valencia after he decided to skip training on Friday.
According to AS, the Argentinian asked to be excused from training as he continues to edge towards the exit door.
Both United and Man City have been linked with a move, although Sky Sports have suggested that Louis Van Gaal will not be signing him.
It remains to be seen if the latest development alerts the Dutchman though, particularly given that he appears to be short of options in central defence.
With Marcos Rojo still out, Daley Blind has been filling in at centre-back alongside Chris Smalling. While it would appear as though United need to strengthen, the pair have made a strong argument against it given that they have helped keep two clean sheets so far this season with Sergio Romero manning the goal behind them.
Meanwhile, across the city at the Etihad, Manuel Pellegrini is believed to be looking at adding to his squad before the deadline to provide more competition for the spot next to captain Vincent Kompany at the heart of the defence.
