Man United ace Memphis Depay has been tipped to become one of the world’s best by his fellow Dutchman Arjen Robben.
Depay scored his first competitive goals for United on Tuesday night as he helped his side to a 3-1 win over Club Brugge in their Champions League playoff first-leg encounter.
While United fans will hope that he can take that form into the Premier League starting this weekend against Newcastle, his compatriot believes that he is on the right path to become one of the best in the world.
“He can become one of the top players in the world at Manchester United,” Robben said in the Daily Mirror.
“He is already at such a high level, but playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world he will get even better. Manchester United will want to get back to winning trophies, and he will be a big part of that.”
Robben continued by stating the importance that Louis Van Gaal will have in developing Depay into one of the very best, and even went as far as suggesting that United could realistically win the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils have won both of their opening two games of the season, defeating Tottenham and Aston Villa 1-0 without looking entirely convincing.
However, Van Gaal has insisted that he is pleased to have maximum points and will look to push on for the remainder of the season with Depay playing a crucial role.
