Man United striker Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of the Champions League game with PSV this week due to a hamstring injury.
The England captain was forced to miss Saturday’s win over Liverpool due to the problem, and he wasn’t even able to take his place on the bench due to the extent of the injury.
While Louis Van Gaal would have hoped to have seen him return in time for the mid-week clash with the Dutch giants, it has been confirmed that the 29-year-old hasn’t recovered.
It remains to be seen whether or not Marouane Fellaini continues up front after the Belgian was given the nod in the 3-1 win at Old Trafford, but with Anthony Martial making an immediate impact in his debut, he could be given a starting spot.
The 19-year-old scored a stunning goal to secure the win for the Red Devils, and so Van Gaal may well be tempted to reward the youngster with a crucial role against PSV.
