Kroos is prepared to sacrifice Champions League football to play under the Dutchman.
Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has finally been convinced to join Manchester United after Louis van Gaal’s appointment as manager on Monday, according to the Daily Star.
The Germany international has just one year remaining on his current deal with Bayern and despite ongoing negotiations, no new contract has been agreed.
Despite the fact Kroos’ time at the Allianz Arena is running down, the Red Devils are prepared to offer £40m for the attacking midfielder in order to ward off other interested parties.
As well as that the club would sanction paying the 24-year-old a whopping £260,000-a-week, such is the high regard van Gaal holds the German.
Kroos would help inject some creativity into the United midfield – something that was a major issue under David Moyes’ disappointing 10 months in charge – due to his ability to play in almost any position in the middle of the park.
The midfield ace is considered to be among the best players at Bayern currently and head coach Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the German star, but a move to the Premier League could prove to be too tempting.
Kroos has a good relationship with van Gaal after being given his first chances with the Bundesliga champions back when the 62-year-old was in charge in 2010.
It’s this bond that could greatly benefit United as they look to bounce straight back from what has been their worst season in over a quarter of a century.
