Richairo Zivkovic could be the latest teenage prodigy to join Liverpool’s academy…
Liverpool have scouted Dutch side FC Groningen’s wonderkid Richairo Zivkovic, and are keen on bringing him to Anfield, reports the Daily Mirror.
Zivkovic is only 16-years-old, but has already scored two goals from his six appearances in Holland’s top league.
He is quick and mobile, and with PSV’s Zakaria Bakkali, is the second most exciting young prodigy in Dutch football right now.
Zivkovic can play either centrally, or as a wide forward – so would fit in the 4-3-3 formation that is favoured by most sides now.
Rated as the next Arjen Robben, Zivkovic broke the Dutch winger’s record as the youngest player to ever score for the club this season.
At the moment, Liverpool’s academy is arguably one of the most impressive in the country, and Zivkovic would fit right in. Last season, Raheem Sterling, Suso and Andre Wisdom all broke through, and 17-year-old winger Jordon Ibe looks set to do the same this year.
Brendan Rodgers has proven that he is not afraid to give youth a chance, but Zivkovic would likely spend a few years with the Under 21s and Under 18s before he is thrust into the Premier League spotlight.
