The Merseysiders are keen on Sevilla’s Moreno.
Real Madrid are readying to hijack Liverpool’s proposed transfer of Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno as they look for support in defence, according to talkSPORT.
With Jose Enrique having been injured for much of the season and Valencia loanee Aly Cissokho failing to impress at Anfield, manager Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for recruitment on the left side of the back four.
Moreno has been impressing in La Liga this term and at just 21-years-old is a great prospect for the future and Madrid are readying up an offer as a result.
The current league leaders are willing to pay £16m to cash-strapped Sevilla to secure the starlet, plus the inclusion of one of their promising youth players.
Although Moreno’s release clause is set at £25m the Seville based club are likely to accept this deal as their financial insecurity means they have to make the most of valuable assets.
This would come as a huge disappointment to Rodgers, who is unlikely to be able to convince the defender to come to the Premier League if the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is a possible destination.
The Northern Irishman is starting to build something exciting on Merseyside and the club look like they will qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2009 this campaign.

With the likes of Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in fine form then there is every chance they can build on this success, but new signings to bolster the squad will be a necessity if they want to succeed in Europe.
In Moreno they would have a talented young player who broke into the Sevilla first team after progressing from their youth academy in 2013.
Since then the full-back has played 49 matches for the club in all competitions and has earned his first two caps for the Spanish national team.
