Barcelona youth product Sergi Samper is reportedly close to accepting that his dream with the Catalan giants is over and will accept a deal at Liverpool, according to The Mirror.
The 20-year-old is a graduate from Barcelona’s legendary youth academy, La Masia, and was hoping to have enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at the Nou Camp this season, but he is yet to play a single minute in La Liga.
Liverpool are thought to be leading the race to sign the midfielder, but Arsenal are also waiting in the wings for any eleventh hour bid according to the paper.
Samper has played in the Champions League this season, starting against Cypriot club APOEL, while he has also come on as a substitute in the Copa del Rey. Aside from that, the youngster has been a regular for Barcelona’s reserve side Barcelona B, who play in the Spanish second tier and are currently bottom and three points away from safety.
