Brendan Rodgers has targeted another ambitious move for a top notch attacker…
Liverpool will swoop for AC Milan’s Italian attacker Stephan El Shaarawy when the transfer window reopens in January, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the exciting talents in European football, following an ultra-impressive season last time out, where he scored 19 goals in all competitions. This season though, he has only made one Serie A start, and sits behind the likes of Robinho, Kaka, Mario Balotelli and Allesandro Matri in the pecking order.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to bolster his attacking options, after missing out on summer deals to sign Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa and Henrikh Mkhitaryan who signed for Borussia Dortmund. Both have started this term brilliantly, and Rodgers will be desperate not to miss out on another top target come January.
The Italian attacker prefers to cut in from a wide left position, and is an expert dribbler, which has drawn comparisons to Neymar in the past.
While his talent is undeniable, his consistency and work-rate has been brought into question, and it remains to be seen whether El Sharaawy will fulfil his prodigious ability.
However, Rodgers did sign Daniel Sturridge and Coutinho last January, when both were struggling at their perspective clubs. Since, they have established themselves as two of the best players in the Premier League, and the Northern Irish boss will be hopeful of doing the same with El Shaarawy.
