Reds backup ignoring transfer talk.
Liverpool backup goalkeeper Brad Jones is apparently ignoring the speculation claiming the club are set to bring in another custodian during the January transfer window by insisting that he wants to pen a new deal, according to Sky Sports.
The 32-year-old Australian is finally being given an extended run in the Liverpool first team thanks to the wayward form of regular first choice Simon Mignolet, but has still come in for some heavy criticism.
Recently, the Reds have been linked with a move for Chelsea veteran Petr Cech, but Jones is remaining resolute in his desire to pen an extended deal to stay at Anfield.
“I signed my first contract (to try and win another one) and I have been playing that way since,” Jones said.
“Everyone wants to link other players with us and that is probably not going to change. We will get linked with another 20 goalkeepers now but I won’t let it affect me.
“Every game that I play, I will just go out and do my best. Do I want to stay? Of course I do. It is just up to me to go out and do my best and hold on to it for as long as I can.
“If it is a couple of weeks, a couple of months, we will see. I just have to make the most of it when I can.”
