Man U and Liverpool both vying for signature of Heerenveen ace in January.
Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be rivalling each other for the £4m signing of talented young Heerenveen striker Daley Sinkgraven, according to the Daily Mirror.
However, they also have competition from the likes of Champions League winners Real Madrid, fellow La Liga giants Barcelona, Bundesliga champs Bayern Munich and Eredivisie heavyweights Ajax are also tracking the Holland under-21 international forward.
The Eredivisie side are believed to have been resigned to losing the 19-year-old, but are hoping to hang on to him until the end of the season where a surge of form could see them accomplish their aim of securing European football next term.
Van Gaal and Rodgers both see Sinkgraven, who has three years left on contract at the Abe Lenstra Stadion, as one for the future.
Sinkgraven made 17 appearances for the Dutch side last season, and has continued his involvement by being an ever present this time around.
He has notched two goals in nine league and cup outings for the Dutch outfit, including a shock winner against league leaders PSV Eindhoven ten days ago.
