Former Germany captain and outspoken midfield legend Lothar Mattheus has claimed that young attacker Josip Drmic will definitely join Arsenal in the summer, he told Swiss publication Blick.
The 21-year-old has bagged 16 Bundesliga goals for Nurnberg this term, but has also been linked with moves to Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.
Many are taking Matheus’s claims with a pinch of salt, as he previously mentioned how Drmic’s wife was looking at apartments in London, when the player is actually unmarried.
Mattheus though, is still confident a deal will be completed.
“Although now Dortmund, Gladbach and Leverkusen all have an interest. I’m saying: Josip Drmic will switch to Arsenal,” he said.
“I made a mistake. I said his wife was already looking for apartments. The fact is that this is his girlfriend. Drmic has had a girlfriend for nine months. She has lived five or six months with him in Nuremberg.”
“Look, if a journalist hears something, he researched and wrote that then its true. I’m kind of journalist and have heard the rumour of a move to Arsenal. I then found out that this is true.”
According to the report, Drmic has a clause on his contract which allows him to leave in the summer for as little as £4m.
