Durant recently stated Wade not in his top 10 NBA players.
Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has begun a war of words between himself and Miami Heat ace Dwyane Wade.
The 24-year-old was asked during an interview with CineSport for his opinion on a list of the top 10 players in the NBA today, with LeBron James leading the way in top spot and Durant following him in second place.
Durant was asked if he thought anyone was missing from that list, to which he responded with his former team-mate, James Harden.
However, the follow-up question has ultimately caused controversy, as he was then asked which player should be taken out to accommodate the Houston Rockets star.
“Dwayne Wade,” he responded almost immediately.
It is unclear at this stage as to whether there are ulterior motives to this situation, but his comment clearly irked Wade who took to Instagram to respond.
It then took just 12 minutes for Durant to hit back, as he took to Twitter to say: “Show me don’t tweet me…”
If this is a genuine “beef” between the two individuals, then it will undoubtedly excite NBA fans ahead of their first meeting in January.
Durant seemingly appeared genuine during the interview, while Wade was clearly bothered enough by his comments that he took the time to respond.
Wade successfully helped defend the Heat’s NBA championship crown last season, and came in at number 8 on Sports Illustrated’s list, along with the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan.
However, if Durant was tasked with making the list, it is clear that Wade would not feature in it.
