Serie A boss wants Anfield post.
Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is supposedly interested in the possibility of returning as manager of Liverpool to replace Brendan Rodgers, according to Spanish source Fichajes.net.
The Spaniard, who also had a short spell at Chelsea in the 2012/13 season, is ready to reject the offer of a new contract at his current club and return for a second spell at Anfield.
Liverpool’s current boss Rodgers is under increasing scrutiny after some highly disappointing results this season, and the return of Benitez could be a popular one with the club’s fans.
The 54-year-old won the Champions League in his first spell at Anfield, as well as the FA Cup in 2006 before he left for Inter Milan in 2010.
