2. No European football
The Reds’ seventh place finish last term was disappointing – particularly as bitter rivals Everton claimed sixth – but a lack of European football this season should prove a blessing for Brendan Rodgers’ side. While their closest rivals Spurs and Arsenal face a midweek trip to Ukraine and a double header with the best team on the planet respectively, Rodgers’ men will remain fresh and injury free ahead of the Premier League run-in. Chelsea and Man City also have Champions League battles ahead; the Reds lack of European football should keep them fresh and could prove decisive.
1. ‘SAS’
Quite simply Liverpool boast two frighteningly good strikers. Suarez and Sturridge have already scored 39 Premier League goals between them this season (Spurs have scored 36 in total), with the Englishman having failed to score in just four of his 18 games this season. Suarez has not scored in three games – a positive drought by his standards – but still boasts 23 league goals in 21 appearances and will comfortably claim the Golden Boot, barring injury. The duo showed again at Fulham that they have the ability to paper over the cracks of a bad performance. Manchester City also boast plenty of firepower but Arsenal and Chelsea, by contrast, are quality and goals up front. Liverpool’s ‘SAS’ duo could fire them to the title.
