3. Strength in depth
Arsenal have earned a fair amount of criticism this season for their comparatively thin squad, but the north London side’s backup options are rather better than they are given credit for.
The fact that the Gunners could only call upon Lukasz Fabianski, Carl Jenkinson, Isaac Hayden, Nacho Monreal, Jack Wilshere, Serge Gnabry and Nicklas Bendtner against Manchester United was used by the media to illustrate their lack of depth, but the issue for Arsenal – not for the first time – is that they have suffered from a string of injuries at the same time
When Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Yaya Sanogo return to full fitness, that squad will look a sight better.
There’s Abou Diaby to return too, but Arsenal fans could be forgiven for not banking on the France international’s return to fitness.
