Five potential January buys for the Gunners.
Arsenal had, by the stands of Arsene Wenger, a particularly busy summer window, with the deadline day signing of Danny Welbeck adding to the captures of Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and David Ospina, but the feeling is that the Gunners still need more additions if they are to live with the challenge of Chelsea and Manchester City.

January will be a time that Arsene Wenger could look to strengthen, with a number of players already linked with a new year move to North London. Here are five that could be pulling on a red shirt in the second half of the season:
Asier Illarramendi (Real Madrid)
Arsene Wenger is believed to hold a desire for a defensive midfielder, with that being one of few clear weaknesses in the current Arsenal squad, and has been linked with a move for out-of-favour Real Madrid man Asier Illarramendi. The former Real Sociedad star is more of a playmaker than an enforcer, although that appears to be Wenger’s favoured style of deep midfielder these days, and could potentially be available for a bargain fee after his Bernabeu career stalled.
