Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin will have an even tougher choice in the summer regarding his future, as Everton became the fourth Premier League side to express an interest in the player.
According to the Daily Mail, Roberto Martinez will have to beat off competition from Southampton, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle for the forward, who has had an incredibly productive first season in the top flight.
The 25-year-old has scored 17 times – rather shockingly, 45% of his team’s total of 38 so far – and has only Harry Kane ahead of him as the top English goalscorer. His performances have led to suggestions that he may be named in the England squad, but manager Roy Hodgson possesses strong options in attack and Austin has yet to be called up by his country.
The Daily Mail suggest that whether he manages to keep Chris Ramsey’s side in the league or not, he will be definitely leaving the club at the end of the season.
Like their competitors for his signature, the Toffees have struggled for goals at times this season. Romelu Lukaku is their leading scorer, but has only eight strikes to his name.
