No-nonsense defender is desperate to remain with the champions.
Manchester City centre-back Joleon Lescott says that is determined to win his starting place back with the Premier League title holders, reports the Daily Telegraph.
The 30-year-old has endured a tough season at the Ethiad stadium, losing his place at the heart of the City back four to new signing Matija Nastasic, who arrived at Eastlands from Serie A outfit Fiorentina for 15 million euros last summer.
And, the England international has found it hard to get back into the team due to the Serbian’s impressive displays for his new team this campaign, so much so that Lescott has appeared in only 21 of City’s 32 top-flight matches so far this season, compared to featuring in 33 Premier League contests as City won the title last year.
As a result, Lescott has grown concerned that he may lose his place in the national setup if he is not playing regularly next campaign, a season that will hopefully culminate in England taking part in the World Cup finals in Brazil.
