Ozil gave supporters a taste of what’s to come at the Stadium of Light…
Mesut Ozil enjoyed a brilliant debut for Arsenal against Sunderland in the Premier League tie at the Stadium of Light.
The Gunners won 3-1, partly thanks to the 24-year-old German’s wonderful debut.
Ozil assisted Olivier Giroud for the first goal with typical aplomb. Controlling the ball expertly wide on the left – Ozil slid in the onrushing French forward intricately, with a perfectly weighted square pass.
With brilliant footballers, it looks as though though have so much time on the ball – and that’s what it looked like today. Every time Ozil received the ball, he already knew what he wanted to do with it – and was wonderfully creative while still retaining possession.
Ozil completed a whopping 70 passes at 90% completion rate, created three goalscoring chances and obviously assisted Giroud’s goal.
Mesut Ozil stats: 70 passes (90% accuracy) 2 shots, 3 dribbles, 3 chances created, 1 delicious assist. Great debut.

Ozil, attempted three dribbles, which was more than the entire Sunderland team put together.

What is certain, is that if the diminutive German carries on in like he started, Arsenal fans are in for a treat, and a first Premier League title since 2004 could well be on the cards.
