Hazard will not be lining up against the Reds at Anfield.
There is bad news for Chelsea ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday as Eden Hazard is unlikely to be fit to play, reports the London Evening Standard.
The Belgium international has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final second-leg at Stamford Bridge a little over two weeks ago.
It was touch and go as to whether Hazard would be ready to face the Reds at Anfield at the weekend, but with the second-leg of the semi-final with Atletico Madrid coming up next Wednesday, manager Jose Mourinho will not risk the 23-year-old.
The Belgium international should have recovered in time for that game with the Spanish league leaders and it appears that Mourinho is now going to focus his attentions on winning the Champions League instead.
After the 0-0 first-leg result at the Vicente Calderon Stadium on Tuesday the 51-year-old stated that he would like to field a weakened side on Merseyside so his players were ready for the Atletico game.
Whether this is mind games from Mourinho or after losing at home to Sunderland in the league last weekend the Portuguese coach has given up on the title, remains to be seen.
The west Londoners trail Brendan Rodgers’ men by five points in the English top tier with just three matches remaining after the shock defeat to the Black Cats last Saturday.
