Romelu Lukaku will turn down a host of Premier League and European giants in order to seal a permanent move to Everton, according to reports in the Metro.
The 21-year-old Belgian striker, who was signed by Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011, has spent the last two seasons on loan at West Brom and Everton – scoring 32 Premier League goals in the process.
However, Lukaku has yet to score for Chelsea in any first-team match, despite having made 15 appearances in all competitions. And despite having cost the Blues an initial fee of £10m (rising to £17m), Jose Mourinho looks ready to cash in on the striker, following the arrival of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
Lukaku asked to leave Stamford Bridge last month, after discovering that he was unlikely to be guaranteed first-team football with Chelsea next season, and a return to Goodison Park now looks to be his most likely move.
The Daily Mail goes as far as to claim that a deal could be struck within the next 48 hours. It is understood that extensive preparations have been made for his return with Everton, who are due to return from their training camp in Austria tonight.
Tottenham and Liverpool are both believed to have inquired over the availability of Lukaku, while Atletico Madrid and Juventus were also thought to be interested.
Elsewhere, Toffees manager Roberto Martinez has held talks with Monaco over a return loan for 6ft 8ins striker Lacina Traore also and is well on in negotiations for Bosnia midfielder Muhamed Besic, 21, of Ferencvaros.
