Ba was fully prepared to make the switch to the Emirates.
Arsenal made a late move to try and sign Chelsea striker Demba Ba on-loan on transfer deadline day and the player has admitted that the switch would have been welcomed.
As it was, the Blues were unable to sign replacement forward Wayne Rooney from Manchester United and instead let Romelu Lukaku leave for Everton.
“I was ready to go and to play there [at Arsenal], but it didn’t happen,” Ba was quoted by Sky Sports.
“I think I’m a good professional, and I’ve always worked hard to deserve what I have. Until today I will keep doing the same.
“I told him [Mourinho] if I stay I will keep fighting for the club and for the side. That’s it.”
The Senegal forward is considered to be third choice at Stamford Bridge behind club record signing Fernando Torres and new face Samuel Eto’o.
However, with Eto’o failing to impress during the 32-year-old’s debut against the Toffees on Saturday and Torres once again looking shaky in front of goal, Ba could well be given a few more opportunities in the near future.
The African has scored just six times in 23 matches since making the £7.5m move to west London from Newcastle United in January.
Yet if the Senegal international were to re-find the form that served Ba so well whilst with the Magpies, the attacker would be in good stead once more.
The 28-year-old netted 29 goals in 58 matches for Newcastle during 18 months with the club after arriving on a free transfer.
