Chelsea defender set to agree Stamford Bridge stay after accepting offer of new deal.
Chelsea captain John Terry is set to sign a new deal to stay on at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues skipper has had a brilliant season so far, with his stoic display in his team’s 0-1 victory at Manchester City another example of his consistency at the heart of the defence.
Terry has been one of the leading lights for Chelsea all season, organising the defence brilliantly from the back and winning both the majority of challenges and aerial duels he enters.
The 33 year-old had wanted a two year deal to stay in west London, but the Daily Mail claim he was told that the club’s policy of only giving one year extensions to players over 30 still applied.
Terry has had a long and successful career with Chelsea, winning Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and League Cups – all as captain. He is also the club’s highest ever scoring defender.
The John Terry era has been the most successful in Chelsea history – and it looks set to continue.
