Torres knows he should bag more goals for Chelsea…
Chelsea’s £50m striker Fernando Torres has admitted that despite being happy about his overall contribution, he should be scoring more goals for the side, reports the Daily Mirror.
Torres was widely regarded as one of the best forwards in world football during his years at Liverpool, where he scored 81 goals in just 142 matches.
For Chelsea though, following his arrival for a British transfer record, Torres has only bagged 40 times in 148 matches, and has even become a figure of ridicule amongst many football fans as a result.
Torres knows he should have done better, but despite not finding the back of the net as often as he would have liked, reckons he’s still been playing well.
“I am happy with the team and my contribution to it around work,” he said.
“But I should have scored more goals and I have to look at myself. Everyone has to look at themselves.”
The striker now is rotated with Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o, and the club’s manager Jose Mourinho has admitted recently that he is disappointed at the finishing ability of his team.
Despite this, the striker is expected to be given a start against Arsenal in the crunch Premier League tie on Monday evening.
