Premier League giants want former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso.
Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, who could be available on a free transfer this summer, reports The Daily Star.
Alonso’s contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of the season and the playmaker will reportedly decide in the next two to three weeks whether to sign a new deal.
The Premier League duo would both be interested in the pass-master if he became available, while Alonso’s former club Liverpool are continuing to keep tabs on the player.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho worked with Alonso at Real and the classy midfielder was one of Mou’s few Spanish allies in the capital.
Beleagured United manager David Moyes meanwhile is in desperate need of midfield reinforcements after missing out on Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara in the summer.
