Chelsea are reportedly preparing to offer midfielder Frank Lampard a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2015.
According to reports, the 33 year-old has impressed many at the club with his recent form, reclaiming his place for both club and country, and will be offered a new deal which will keep him at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of his career.
The former West Ham ace has suffered from an injury plagued 12 months, limiting his first-team opportunities while speculation increased as to whether he would be offered a new deal with his current contract set to expire next summer.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has been impressed with Lampard’s professionalism, and it is said he believes he is vital in his plans to help bed in younger stars such as Daniel Sturridge and Josh McEachran as they look to break into the side.
“[He is] always last off the training pitch,” an insider at the club told The Mirror. “He is always looking to improve himself. And it is not for the benefit of Chelsea TV. He is just a great professional.”
