The Defensive Rookie of the Year vote was a close one, but St. Louis Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald won it by seven votes.
St. Louis Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald proved why he was selected 13th overall in the 2014 draft and even proved that he probably should have been drafted by one of the 12 teams that were up before the Rams.
J.J. Watt – Houston Texans defensive end wins second Defensive Player of the Year award of his career
Odell Beckham Jr. – New York Giants wide receiver wins Offensive Rookie of the Year award
DeMarco Murray – Dallas Cowboys running back wins Offensive Player of the Year award
Notching nine sacks made it impossible for voters to ignore his rookie season and deny him the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
The Rams defensive line began to play to its potential in the second half of the season as Donald became more experienced, shutting out two consecutive opponents at one point.
This award came with an extremely close vote though as Donald received 25 first-place votes while Baltimore Ravens linebacker C.J. Mosley got 18.
