World Cup 2022 set to take place between November and January!
FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke has said that the Qatar 2022 World Cup will not be played in June and July due to the extreme hot weather.
He has also told a French radio station that it will likely be played between November and January, instead.
“The dates for the World Cup (in Qatar) will not be June to July,” he told Radio France.
“To be honest, I think it will be held between November 15 and January 15 at the latest,” he added.
Valcke is the second most powerful FIFA official behind Sepp Blatter, and will likely send most of the footballing world into fury with these latest claims.
“If you play between November 15 and the end of December that’s the time when the weather conditions are best, when you can play in temperatures equivalent to a warm spring season in Europe, averaging 25 degrees,” he continued.
“That would be perfect for playing football.”
Despite this, FIFA have reiteated that no actual decision will be made until after the World Cup in Brazil in 2014…
FIFA reiterate on Qatar 2022: “No decision will be taken before the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil as agreed by the FIFA Exec Cttee”
