According to Sky Sports, Barcelona have lodged an official bid for Chelsea centre-back David Luiz.
Sky Sports News said sources in Spain had informed them of the bid.
Barcelona have been linked with £40m-rated Luiz since the start of the summer, following the 26-year-old’s fine performances for Brazil at the Confederations Cup.
Last month, reports suggested Chelsea had offered Luiz or Juan Mata to Manchester United in part-exchange for Wayne Rooney but the claims were angrily denied by Chelsea, with boss Jose Mourinho insisting Luiz and the Spanish playmaker were part of his plans at Stamford Bridge.
David Luiz finished last term with a better tackle completion rate (84%) than any defender in Barcelona's squad. Daniel Alves closest on 79%
