In what could be one of the more surprising deals of the summer transfer window, Barcelona could end Spanish striker Fernando Torres’s Chelsea nightmare, reckons Football Direct News.
Torres, now 30-years-old, has endured a fairly miserable time on a personal level at Stamford Bridge, since his £50m British record move back in 2011.
In that time, he’s scored only 19 league goals, ruining his reputation as one of world’s most feared strikers.
According to these reports though, Spaniards at Barcelona like Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets want their club to take advantage of Torres’ situation and bring him to the Nou Camp.
He could be available on a loan deal, with Chelsea set to bring in Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa this summer.
A source close to Barcelona apparently said:
“Torres came here in 2012 and scored in front of the Nou Camp crowd, it sent Barca out of the Champions League and he has been remembered for that.
“It is not secret that he has good friendships with a number of players here and I think it is time for him to return to Spain.”
