Real Madrid appear to have the all-clear to complete the signing of Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny despite the Gunners strong desire to keep him.
According to the Metro, Real Madrid is moving forward with a deal to bring Koscielny to Spain for the generous sum of £21.4 million. The 29-year-old French national team member is coming off his 5th successful season with Arsenal, setting a new high with the club by scoring 3 league goals in just 25 appearances to bring his total to 11 during his tenure. Having reportedly rejected an offer from Bayern Munich, Koscielny is looking to join Real Madrid and pair with French teammate Varane.
With the increasing likelihood that the club will lose Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid’s new manager Rafa Benitez is apparently scrambling to find someone who can replace his megastar without having to cave in to Ramos’ contract demands.
