Mustafa Ozil furious after fake agent attempts to seal United switch.
The father of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is to sue an agent who falsely claimed to represent the player during talks with Manchester United.
Ozil, 24, joined the Gunners from Real Madrid for a club record £43.4m fee on August transfer deadline day but had previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Mustafa, Mesut’s father and representative, has now filed a charge against the unknown agent, who allegedly forged his signature, enabling talks with United to begin.
The document was dated 7 August 2013 and has been leaked to Ozil snr, who has confirmed his intention to sue.
“I would have never deemed it possible what some dodgy people venture to do,” Mustafa Ozil said.
“Someone wanted to make contact with Manchester in my name and even signed with my name. That is no trivial offence. We will get to the bottom of it..”
Ozil snr reportedly offered his son to a number of suitors, including United, before eventually deciding on Arsenal but Mustafa has denied this claim, insisting Mesut is too good to be touted around suitors.
“As you can see, that’s wrong. You don’t need to offer a player of Mesut’s class to any club in the world.”
