Wilshere was greatly affected when the midfielder returned to Spain.
After nine years at the club Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal to return to Barcelona in a £35m deal in 2011 and Jack Wilshere has revealed the affect that had on the youngster.
As one of the most talented midfielders in world football Fabregas served as a mentor and a source of inspiration to the 21-year-old.
“The one I was really upset about leaving was Fabregas, I learned so much from just watching him,” Wilshere told fans in a Google hangout.
“He’s similar to me starting at a young age.
“I was the most upset about him leaving.”
Fabregas played 298 matches for the Gunners during the Spaniard’s time in north London and scored 56 goals and provided 91 assists.
The 26-year-old went onto become captain and fans at the Emirates Stadium still have great affection for the midfield ace, despite the fact that the World Cup winner moved back to Catalonia.
Wilshere has now developed into an equally important part of Arsene Wenger’s side as Fabregas was, as despite a number of injuries the England international has shown real talent for such a young age.
This season the starlet has netted four goals in all competitions and has helped the side to top of the Premier League and the cusp of qualification from their Champions League group, despite facing the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Napoli.
