Non-playing Russian forward has been in the capital since Jan 2009.
Arsenal have received a major financial boost with the news that midfield player Andrei Arshavin is finally set to leave the north London club on a free transfer this summer, says the Daily Telegraph.
The mercurial Russia international has been at the Emirates for five-and-a-half seasons now, having signed for the Gunners from Zenit St Petersburg for a club-record fee in January 2009.
However, it is fair to say that the playmaker has struggled badly for consistency in the intervening period, having featured in 143 matches for the club in that time, registering 31 goals and 41 assists, including 23 goals and 23 assists in 105 Premier League contests.
But Arshavin’s form and fitness have been in and out, with the 32-year-old often spending large periods of time warming the substitutes’ bench in the capital, with Arsenal themselves finding it hard to find a buyer for the attacker due to his £85,000 per week salary.
That, though, is now no longer a worry as Arshavin’s Arsenal contract will finally come to an end on June 30, with the player set to leave the club on a free.
