Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger elated as key duo return to training ready to face Manchester United in Premier League grudge match.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that Mathieu Flamini and Jack Wilshere are back in training ahead of their match against Manchester United.
The Gunners have had to do without the midfield pair for some of the hardest tests of their season so far in games against Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, but Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey both anchored the midfield in highly impressive fashion.
Still, Wenger will certainly not object to having the additional options, particularly given how well Flamini performed alongside Arteta prior to his layoff.
Playing Flamini with Arteta in the holding role would free Aaron Ramsey to play further forward alongside Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla, and Jack Wilshere could be allowed the additional recovery time from his troubled ankle issues from the bench.
Longer term absences Theo Walcott (abdominal surgery), Yaya Sanogo (back), Lukas Podolski (hamstring), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) and Abou Diaby (everything) remain sidelined.
