Gunners keen to fend of interest to wrap up bumper Barca deal.
Arsenal are hoping to fight off the competition in a bid to bring talented Barcelona duo Alexis Sanchez and Bojan to the club this summer, according to the Daily Star.
Sanchez had been a target for Liverpool, who had been hoping to bring him to Anfield as part of the deal that would see Luis Suarez head in the opposite direction. However, the player recently claimed that he would prefer a move to Arsenal, putting Arsene Wenger in the drivers seat to snap him up.
The Gunners are willing to splash out up to £30m for the 25-year-old, who impressed for Chile at this summer’s World Cup, and look to fend off apparent interest in him from Manchester United, who have now reportedly also thrown their hat into the ring to sign him, too.
And according to reports in Spain, Sanchez could be joined in north London by current club mate Bojan, as Wenger hopes to be able to resurrect his career after falling out of favour with the La Liga giants
The Spaniard broke on to the scene at Barcelona aged 17 and his initial goal-scoring exploits saw him hailed as the next big star.
However, the 23-year-old was let go to Roma in 2011, only to be re-signed again two years later. He again failed to establish himself in the Barca first team and then endured two unsuccessful loan spells at AC Milan and Ajax.
Both Olympiakos and Malaga are thought to be keen on bringing him on board, but Wenger believes he will have the upper hand in convincing him to head for the Premier League instead.
