Arsenal are almost certain to lose French right-back Bacary Sagna in the summer, as the stalwart defender has refused any extension offers, hoping instead to land a longer term lucrative offer from abroad.
Football Direct News is now reporting that Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid outfit want to sign the 31-year-old on a free transfer, and would be prepared to meet his contract demands in order to force through a deal.
Los Blancos, who last night thrashed Bayern Munich to qualify for the Champions League final, currently have Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Arbeloa as right-back options. Arbeloa has suffered with injuries for most of the campaign, while Carvajal is still a fledgling at 21-years-old.
Sagna then would provide the side with proven defensive nous on the right of the back four, and if Real do offer him a contract, Arsenal’s already slim hopes of keeping Sagna will vanish.
