Balotelli and Montolivo amongst those who return from extended breaks.
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is keen to see a good performance from his players against Chelsea in the International Champions Cup.
The Rossoneri secured a 2-1 win over Valencia in their opening match of the tournament, while Jose Mourinho’s side defeated Inter 2-0 to set up this clash.
The game kicks off at 23:30 UK time at the MetLife Stadium in New York, and Allegri is boosted by the return of some key figures ahead of the game after difficulties in the Audi Cup earlier this week.
Milan were defeated 5-3 by Manchester City in the opening game, but with Mario Balotelli, Riccardo Montolivo and Cristian Zapata all returning, he hopes to see improvements with the Champions League qualifiers fast approaching.
“This match is of interest to us, just as all the games we are playing in this period,” said Allegri in his Press conference as quoted by Football Italia.
“It will be useful to prepare us for an important objective like the Champions League play-off, but we also have to play with concentration and pride, because we represent an important club and many people are watching us.”
Matias Silvestre could also be in line to make his debut for the club following his move from city rivals Inter, after Jherson Vergara was the latest defender to pick up an injury as he sustained a dislocated shoulder to join Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Bonera and Philippe Mexes in the treatment room.
Nevertheless, Allegri will look for fitness levels to continue to improve while also picking up some momentum as they head towards the start of the new season.
