AC Milan are closing in on a deal to secure the services of flop Chelsea striker Fernando Torres on a loan deal, report the Express, after the Serie A side sold Mario Balotelli to Liverpool.
Chelsea, for their part, have been linked with a move to sign Balotelli’s international teammate Mattia Destro from AS Roma, which would demote Torres to being the club’s fourth choice striker and all but end his unhappy spell at Stamford Bridge.
Torres has already looked to be very much on the periphery of things under Jose Mourinho at the start of the 2014/15 season, with new signing Diego Costa and returning hero Didier Drogba appearing to be ahead of the Spaniard in the pecking order – which could make a San Siro escape even more likely for the former Liverpool star.
