Angel Di Maria wants to stay at Real Madrid despite interest from Arsenal.
Arsenal have been dealt a blow after Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria insisted he wanted to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Argentine, who is set to be forced further down the pecking order at Real by the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
Di Maria, 25, was linked with a move to White Hart Lane as part of Los Blancos’ world record bid for the Welshman but is reportedly determined to remain in the Spanish capital.
Arsene Wenger is under pressure to bring in new players in the final days of the transfer window after failing to add any new additions barring French youngster Yaya Sanogo this summer but, in a further blow to the Arsenal boss, Di Maria has stressed his desire to remain at Real.
“I signed up to 2018 just a year ago and my desire is to stay in the Bernabeu,” Di Maria told Spanish daily AS.
Di Maria’s Los Merengues teammate Mesut Ozil, another player linked with Arsenal, has also said he wants to remain at the Bernabeu.
