A deal to bring PSG’s world-class forward Edinson Cavani to Old Trafford in the summer is practically done, according to well known football pundit Richard Keys.
It’s public knowledge that United plan to spend big this summer, with David Moyes (or potentially a new manager) set to awarded a £200m transfer budget.
Following United’s embarrassing defeat at home to Liverpool this weekend, calls for squad upheaval grew even louder.
Keys reckons that a large amount of this transfer war chest will be used to sign the Uruguayan superstar, who was bought by PSG for £57m last summer.
“Edison Cavani is a done deal – if they can persuade him to sign. It’ll cost £80m to get him out of PSG,” Keys wrote in his blog today.
“But will he want to join a team that might not even be playing Europa League football?”
The claims seem fairly contradictory, as the term ‘done deal’ indicates that all the necessary boxes have been ticked. Keys though declares immediately after using the term ‘done deal’ that United will face a test persuading the player to join a side without Champions League football, and that they’d have to pay an astronomical fee to acquire him anyway.
So in reality, it doesn’t seem like Edinson Cavani to Manchester United is a done deal in any way whatsoever!
