The Liverpool forward is viewed as the perfect replacement for Benzema.
Arsenal target and Liverpool star Luis Suarez is back on Real Madrid’s radar as the Spanish giants are prepared to pay £41m for the South American in January, reports Punto Pelota.
Los Blancos are looking for a replacement for the out-of-form Karim Benzema, who has been linked with a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
The Gunners tried to sign Suarez over the summer, placing a £40m plus one pound bid to try and activate a clause in the 26-year-old’s contract that turned out not to exist.
During this time Madrid were also keeping a close eye and the forward would still be an attractive prospect, as the Uruguay international is not cup-tied for the Champions League.
Arsene Wenger may be persuaded to make another approach for Suarez in the New Year as well, with the north London club looking worryingly light up-front if there is an injury to Olivier Giroud.
However, the Reds are more likely to sell their best player to a foreign club as supposed to a Premier League rival and therefore Los Merengues are leading the chase.
Suarez has recently returned to the first team at Anfield after serving a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic towards the end of last season.
The striker made the Uruguayan’s return against Manchester United in the League Cup, before bagging a brace in the 1-3 league win over Sunderland on Sunday.
Last term Suarez scored an impressive 30 goals in all competitions and is regarded as one of the best attackers in Europe.
