Liverpool are watching Mamadou Sakho, according to new PSG boss Laurent Blanc.
Liverpool are interested in PSG defender Mamadou Sakho.
“He’ll see what his status is in the team…One thing is certain, Liverpool is always on the lookout,” PSG boss Laurent Blanc is quoted as saying by Le 10 Sport.
Earlier in the month, Sakho himself mentioned how flattered he was to be linked with a team as prestigious as Liverpool.
“I am flattered by the interest of historic clubs like Liverpool and AC Milan. We will see what happens in the near future,” Sakho was quoted in the Daily Express.
The player has struggled for first-team football with PSG, with Brazilian duo Thiago Silva and Alex often starting ahead of the powerful Frenchman, and it doesn’t look like Blanc will immediately offer him any.
Blanc didn’t select him for his Euro 2012 squad when he was the the French international manager either, although the player has been a regular member of the squad ever since.
Liverpool are looking for a long-term replacement for Jamie Carragher, and have so far only bought in Kolo Toure from Manchester City on a free transfer.
At 23-years-old, Sakho would fit Brendan Rodgers’ policy of bringing young talent into the first team.
