David Moyes thinks he can rescue Kevin De Bruyne from his Chelsea nightmare…
In what could be one of the surprise deals of the January transfer window, Manchester United could move for Chelsea’s forgotten Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, reports Caughtoffside.
United boss David Moyes has been desperate to strengthen the attacking midfield areas of his squad, and missed out on summer deals for Cesc Fabregas, Thiago and Ander Herrerra. Instead, he snapped up £27m Marouane Fellaini from Everton, who has picked up a wrist injury and has arguably not yet lived up to his enormous fee.
Kevin De Bruyne shone on loan at Werder Bremen last term, scoring ten goals and registering ten assists, and many believed he would come back to Chelsea an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s squad.
However, he has badly struggled for game time behind the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Andre Schurrle and Juan Mata, and has become frustrated by his bit part role at Stamford Bridge.
Moyes is expected to lodge a bid of around £15m for the 22-year-old Belgian international, which would tempt the Blues, although it is likely that Mourinho would prefer to sell to a European side than a Premier League rival.
